Stewarding Connected Innovation: Advancing Digital Transformation Across the Pharmaceutical Ecosystem

Digital transformation is reshaping every stage of the pharmaceutical ecosystem, from scientific discovery and regulatory governance to pharmaceutical services, surveillance and patient care. Malaysia’s evolving experience illustrates how this transformation can be advanced while keeping responsible stewardship at its core. Key developments include the growing role of artificial intelligence in scientific discovery and regulatory oversight, the modernisation of regulatory infrastructure, and digital platforms such as MyPhIS and MyUBAT in strengthening services and patient access. Emerging risks in the digital marketplace are also driving new approaches to surveillance, product authentication, traceability and post-market safety. Looking ahead, meaningful progress will depend on better connecting technology, data, evidence and people across the pharmaceutical ecosystem, supported by collaboration across government, academia, industry and healthcare professionals.
